Failing Strata Star 10

Failing Strata Star 10: This drill rig is mounted on a 1993 Ford F800 truck and has 10,000 foot pounds of torque. The Strata Star is capable of soil sampling, rock coring, and hollow stem augering with up to 10 V4-inch diameter augers for monitoring well installations up to 8 inches in diameter. The rig is capable of 8-inch mud rotary drilling to a depth of approximately 150 feet. The Strata Star is supported by a 1984 International 1900 Series truck with a 12-foot stake rack bed with a power liftgate enabling it to carry all necessary supplies for projects. This drill rig has also been equipped utilize the hydraulic-push technology to obtain soil samples. This provides additional flexibility for switching from hollow stem augers to Geoprobe-type hydraulic-push methods when necessary.
